Avery Dennison to hold hiring event for production operators, offering $25/hour plus shift pay

Avery Dennison is holding an on-site hiring event today, August 20, 2026, in Mentor for full-time production operators. The jobs pay $25.09 per hour, with an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential for off-shift work.

The event runs from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the company's Mentor location. Avery Dennison is headquartered at 8080 Norton Parkway, Mentor, OH 44060.

The company is seeking coating machine operators to work rotating day and night shifts. Coating machine operators set up, run, monitor and clean equipment that applies protective or decorative coatings to products or parts.

The $2.00 differential falls within the typical range for off-shift manufacturing work in Ohio. Second-shift differentials generally range from $0.50 to $3.00 per hour, while third-shift premiums typically range from $1.00 to $5.00 per hour, representing roughly 5-10% and 10-15% premiums, respectively.

The company's $25.09 base rate exceeds the living wage by more than $3.50 per hour and roughly doubles the typical factory wage.

The hiring push comes from one of the major employers in Mentor's substantial manufacturing base. The city reports more than 300 manufacturers and describes manufacturing as the backbone of the Mentor economy. Major manufacturing employers include STERIS, Avery Dennison, PCC Airfoils, Lincoln Electric, De Nora Tech, Parker Hannifin, Buyers Products, and Race Winning Brands.
