Crossroads Health posts Mentor openings as integrated care staff needs grow

The walk-in desk at 9220 Mentor Ave. offers behavioral health assessments with no appointment needed. For youth ages 4 and older, the desk opens at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 3:00 p.m., with clients able to begin arriving half an hour early. The people who staff that desk, answer the phone behind it, and see the patients who walk through are exactly who Crossroads Health is now trying to hire, nearly all at once.

In late September, Crossroads' own job board listed six open positions spanning access, finance, front office, residential care, psychiatric services, and clinical training. Nearly every front door a patient walks through is being staffed at once.

Crossroads Health, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Mentor, has provided behavioral health and primary care in Lake County for more than forty years, and its careers page says it serves people regardless of ability to pay.

The first phone call

At the very front of the system, Crossroads is hiring a Patient Navigator in its Access department — a full-time Mentor role that is often the first point of contact for new and returning clients, screening callers, identifying what services they need, and coordinating care by phone and in the office.

One step further in, a Patient Support Specialist handles the front desk and call center on Mentor Avenue: scheduling, multi-line phones, insurance verification, records, payments, and the people who walk in the door.

The clinical floor

On the clinical side, Crossroads is hiring an Integrated Healthcare LPN in Mentor at $23 to $31.25 an hour, on-site, and a Medical Assistant for the Health Center's Psychiatry unit — the person who takes vital signs, teaches patients about their care, and gives vaccines, injections, toxicology screens, and lab draws.

For the providers themselves, the board has carried an Advanced Practice Provider for Primary Care and a part-time Med-Psych Provider of 24 to 32 hours a week — an MD or DO with dual certification in general adult psychiatry and a primary care specialty such as internal medicine or family medicine.

Behind the care

Behind the care, Crossroads is also hiring a Billing Specialist to handle claims and payments involving clients, third-party insurers, Medicaid, and the ADAMHS Board — a role requiring a high school diploma and at least two years of medical billing experience — and a master's-level clinical intern for outpatient and residential counseling, offering supervised experience for graduate students in social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy.

Beyond Mentor Avenue

The hiring also points beyond Mentor's walls. An Adult Residential Specialist at the North Coast House program in Concord works Friday and Saturday evenings, 1 to 10:30 p.m., supporting residents in short-term or transitional housing, with starting pay of about $20 an hour.

Crossroads has also expanded its partnership with the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve at the Hale Road Campus in Painesville Township, relocating its Mental Health Day Treatment Program there this fall.

Walk-in assessments at 9220 Mentor Ave. need no appointment, and for youth ages 4 and older the desk is open 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The number to call is 440-255-1700.
