Just Kids' Stuff Garage Sale returns to Mentor Community Recreation Center with corrected hours
The city’s Fall 2026 special edition listed the sale as 2 to 6 p.m., but it actually ended at noon, leaving families who trusted the print hours locked out.

A family that trusted the city's Fall 2026 Mentor Special Edition and showed up at the Mentor Community Recreation Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, would have found the doors locked and the Just Kids' Stuff Garage Sale already packed up and gone.
Mentor's annual Just Kids' Stuff Garage Sale ran from 9 a.m. to noon that Saturday at the recreation center, 6000 Heisley Road, Mentor, OH 44060. The city's Fall 2026 Mentor Special Edition, however, printed the sale hours incorrectly as 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. — a full five hours off from the real window.
In its own announcement, the City of Mentor said the times listed in the Fall 2026 Mentor Special Edition were incorrectly listed as 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and apologized for the error.
Cleveland.com reported the corrected 9 a.m.-to-noon window on September 18, 2026, the day before the sale.
The corrected window was only three hours long and started at 9 a.m. A family that trusted the printed 2-to-6 listing would have arrived after the sale was already over.
The sale itself featured gently used children's clothing, toys, books, baby gear, and other children's items. It was held indoors at the Mentor Community Recreation Center, which the city promotes as a comfortable, weather-proof venue. The indoor setting meant the sale happened regardless of weather — no rain date or rescheduled sale was mentioned, and the event was a single Saturday.
The City of Mentor Parks & Recreation Department organized the sale, and Cleveland.com described it as Mentor's annual event — the kind of recurring, family-oriented gathering parents and grandparents come back to year after year.
For families who wanted to sell their own kids' outgrown gear, seller tables cost $25 for Mentor residents and $30 for non-residents for the 2026 sale. For table reservations or more information, the City of Mentor directed people to call (440) 205-3608. The indoor, weather-proof venue meant sellers who reserved a table didn't have to worry about the sale being washed out.
The corrected window was short enough that a family planning around a Saturday morning of school sports and errands had little room to arrive late and still shop. The city itself caught and corrected the error in its announcement, apologizing for the misprint — a small but fair reminder that a community event lives or dies by whether the calendar is right the first time.
As of September 22, 2026, the City of Mentor's news and announcements pages contained no follow-up on attendance at the September 19 sale or on whether the misprinted hours caused confusion, so the full cost of the error to would-be shoppers is not yet known.
